By G.E.M. Winners

G.E.M. Going the Extra Mile is an achievement given to a Peabody Team Member for exceptional contributions to the company’s success having gone above and beyond to help fellow Team Members meet and exceed work expectations. All Peabody Team Members have an opportunity to nominate another Team Member for the award. It is a monthly award.

Nominated by his fellow Peabody Team Members – Congratulations to Paul Ruiz, who works in our Custom Fiberglass Fabrication Department, on being August 2017 G.E.M. Winner!

Here are some of the comments we received on him from his fellow Team Members for G.E.M. Going the Extra Mile:

Paul Ruiz
I think Paul is an all-around hard worker. He always seems to be right in the middle of the job at hand. Whether it is loading a truck, working on the telecom projects or lending a hand to a co-worker. Paul is polite and always treats everyone with respect.

Paul Ruiz
I like working with Paul. He is easy to discuss ideas with and he is a good Team Player, He does a great job making molds for the telecom department. In my experience, he pays close attention to detail. Paul is an individual you want as part of your team. I know if a request is made of him that he will get it done and it will be done satisfactory.

Paul Ruiz
Whenever I look out onto the warehouse floor I can always spot Paul hard at work. He puts his heart and soul into whatever project he is working on. Presenting his very best work which is not only a reflection of the company but a reflection of who he is, what he has helped to create and the integrity of him. He is always willing to lend a hand and he is polite and courteous as well!

Paul Ruiz
Paul is a go to employee. He looks for things to do. He focuses on what his jobs are for the day and completes each task. He notices things that need to be fixed. If he sees me in the warehouse he always asks if there is something he can help me with. Very polite man. He will work in any department and does what is asked of him. This is a man that takes pride in his work. He smiles all day hot or cold and he encourages others (team mates, new-hires, temps) etc.

We also had 2 Honorable Mentions this month on two Peabody Team Members.
Jose-Luis Cornejo and Art Avila both went above and beyond in
their work duties and helping others!

Fourth of July

America The Beautiful – Happy Fourth of July 2017

By General

Independence Day, The Fourth of July, A day in the midst of summer vacation with picnics, bake sales, fireworks, parades with marching bands, squirt gun and water balloon fights, baseball games and barbeques. A day we spend with family and friends and build fond memories. A day that children rank right up there with Christmas. A time of Summer Vacations, first kisses, carnivals and pie eating contests.

All of that makes it a special and memorable day of glee, free of the cares of the world and all about letting our hair down and having fun. Here in 2017 though, we seldom remember what it is REALLY about. Independence Day is when we celebrate the signing of The Declaration of Independence, that set in motion the birth of the Greatest Nation in human history; The United States of America.

The Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights and the Constitution were God-inspired documents written at a time when Godly people who boldly forged out a new civilization in the wilds of a new world and gained a foothold on an untamed land through hard work and great sacrifice, faced oppression from a government detached and unconcerned about the welfare of the very people who risked everything to make a better life for themselves, their families and future generations.

The King of England at the time, fondly referred to as “Mad King George III”, decided that America belonged to him and he desired to control his subjects and benefit from their toil with nothing for them in return. He would send his minions, the enlisted who donned Red Coats, to lord over the citizens of the 13 colonies, cruel men who would routinely bust into innocent people’s homes and ransack their properties, taking what they pleased, and beating or even murdering those who put up resistance. The conditions were severe and the colonials were wearied from the treatment they received, without a voice in government representing them and their interests.

Then came the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back; The king instituted a 3% tax on tea. Enough was enough and the Colonials, led by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, James Madison, Benjamin Franklin and others had had enough. They revolted.

Click here to watch our YouTube video of Cathy being announced the winner.

Here are some of the comments we received on her from her fellow Team Members for G.E.M. Going the Extra Mile:

Cathy Hellebrand
There are many deserving people here at Peabody, but Cathy stood out in May for her selfless commitment to getting done what was needed. With no receptionist/billing clerk, Cathy picked up the slack, worked long hours and just did whatever she could do to make it happen. Cathy keeps vendors paid, works with people on PO’s , Billing, Pays Bills, goes to the bank and makes deposits, anything and everything. She is an unsung hero often underappreciated, but a great asset for Peabody!

Cathy Hellebrand
I AM NOMINATING Cathy this month because she has gone above and beyond in her job duties. Not only does she always try to help me with purchases I need to make – to see that I can make them but this month, in particular she has had to take on the extra duties of the front desk because front desk person left. It takes an extraordinary person to handle the many activities that go on not only at her desk but the front desk. To deal with all the responsibilities. To maintain workflow and still keep their wits about them, Kudos to Cathy for going the extra mile to keep Peabody Engineering running!!!

Cathy Hellebrand
Her job requires full attention and she is filling in as a receptionist and does it with a smile. The duties at both positions is fast and requires attention and she handles it with ease or at least makes it look that way.

FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn

By Telecom

FCC Commissioner Mignon ClyburnPeabody Engineering was honored to receive FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn at our product display at the recent Wireless Infrastructure Association Convention in Orlando Florida’s Rosen Creek Hotel and Convention Center.

Commissioner Clyburn selected 5 companies to visit in her quest to better understand the wireless telecommunications market and Peabody Engineering’s Cell Site Disguise Guys® approach to creative solutions in hiding unsightly cellular communications sites was definitely one of her priorities. The Commissioner visited with Peabody’s CEO Mark Peabody and asked many questions in order to better understand the landscape in siting concerns across this great nation. Mr. Peabody drew on his 20+ years of experience in creatively concealing cell sites to help Commissioner Clyburn understand the issues that carriers face in getting their sites approved as they struggle to meet the ever growing demand for broadband and cellular connectivity. Mr. Peabody pointed out that cities, municipalities and citizens are concerned with the massive visual pollution created by the countless antenna arrays on buildings and other structures that adversely affect the beauty of their communities and ultimately their quality of life in having their communities blighted by these unsightly antennas, including less than ideal solutions, like artificial trees that are rarely undetectable.

The Commissioner appreciated Peabody Engineering’s approach to seamless integration of their concealment structures into existing architecture, not Mark Peabody and FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburnonly hiding the antennas but actually enhancing the beauty of the buildings the sites are installed upon. She was concerned with the ultimate cost, but Mr. Peabody pointed out that the importance of preserving the beauty of our communities outweighed the marginal cost of concealment in the bigger picture of the multi-billion dollar investment made in infrastructure. “The public has a right to preserve beautiful communities by virtue of the cell phone bills they pay each month for their services and it is the carrier’s responsibility to insure not only good service for their customers, but also good stewardship of our environment, including what we have to look at each and every day.” Peabody said.

FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn was concerned about how the concealment structures would affect the quality of the telecom signal, but Peabody assured her that because of the unique RF properties of Peabody Engineering’s materials of construction, the signal loss is well below allowable levels.

The Cell Site Disguise Guys® were honored to host FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn and hope that our brief time together gave her a better understanding of not only our products, but the importance of responsible planning in expanding our wireless infrastructure, keeping in mind the concerns of American citizens respecting unsightly visual pollution of large antenna arrays that are not properly installed to preserve the visual beauty of our many great communities across America.

Handling Chemicals Responsibly

By Tanks

Handling Chemicals Responsibly is More Important Now Than Ever Before.

Handling Chemicals Responsibly“The need for concentrated chemicals in water quality and wastewater treatment applications is a fact of life. Hazardous, toxic chemicals, such as Sodium Hypochlorite, Chlorine Dioxide, Sulfuric Acid, Amines and Caustics are in use throughout the country in unlikely places where potential exposure to the general public is at risk. Places like hospitals, convention centers, amusement parks, universities and even hotels and office buildings require storage and dispensation of these concentrated and hazardous chemicals to treat recirculating water and effluent of mechanical equipment like boilers, cooling towers, HVAC systems and waste streams, to insure public safety in preserving air and water quality and elimination of toxic and biological exposure in our waste streams and the environment at large.”

The above excerpt is from an Editorial Article on a subject that we are well versed on. Chemical storage and workplace safety are factors we take into consideration when we make all of our Peabody Engineering Products.

Some key highlights of the article include:

  • Environmental contamination
  • Testing and remediation of the site
  • Monitoring and testing for months or even years after the spill
  • Reporting to agencies like EPA
  • Tank configuration
  • Materials of Construction
  • Operating pressure
  • Secondary containment recommended to protect from primary tank failure
  • Other considerations

You can read the full published article online at http://www.pollutionequipment-digital.com.
