Air Conditioning

With three different models to choose from, each features an attractive industrial design with a galvanized sheet-metal cover and minimal use of visible fasteners, as well as a narrow footprint that accommodates compact attachment to your cabinets. Each uses a cleanable, reusable aluminum mesh filter that protects coils for maximum cooling performance. Other features include:

• Easy-mount flanges for simple installation.
• Two levels of corrosion protection.
• Dust-resistant condenser coil allows the unit to be run filterless in most applications.

Circulation Fans

Our compact cooling fans are ideal for applications where enclosure space is limited and quiet, reliable cooling is needed. The fans are engineered for 50,000 hours of continuous operation without lubrication or service and can be installed on any surface of an enclosure. With the addition of accessory fan brackets, compact cooling fans can also be installed in any position inside the enclosure for spot cooling or air circulation. Each fan includes these standard features:

• Maximum operating temperature is 158 F (70 C).
• 4-in. fan is thermally protected and uses permanently lubricated ball bearings.
• 6- and 10-in. fans have ball-bearing construction and split-capacitor motors.
• Split-capacitor motors are thermally protected to avoid premature failure.
• Dynamically balanced impellers molded from polycarbonate material.
• 1 finger guard (additional guards available).

NSF/ANSI/CAN 61

ProChem® Potable Water Tanks

Our ProChem® Tanks and Gemini Dual Containment® Tanks made from Linear Polyethylene (LPE) are NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 Certified.

NSF is one of the most respected independent certification organizations in public health and safety across the globe. Having the NSF mark lets consumers, distributors, suppliers and regulators know that our tanks have been rigorously tested to comply with all standard requirements.

NSF 61 is the only American National Standard addressing the human health effects of drinking water system components. It is a performance-based standard that evaluates the amount of contaminants that leach from our tanks into drinking water, rather than setting prescriptive limits on content.

The NSF certification process can be long and costly, but it’s part of our commitment to the industry and to our customers. Though the process is product-specific and can get quite technical, generally, here is a summary of the seven steps:

1. Application and information submission
2. Product evaluation
3. Product testing in lab
4. Manufacturing facility inspection, production confirmation and product sampling
5. Test results review and acceptance
6. Contract signed and products listed
7. Annual plant inspection and retesting

ASTM D 1998 Standard

Gemini PLUS

Our Gemini®, Gemini® PLUS 1300 and Prochem® Tanks in LPE, HDPE, XLPE, PPL or PVDF construction are available ASTM D-1998 rated if desired.

American Society for Testing and Materials, or ASTM has designed and set over 12,800 standards that help improve lives and enhance performance and help consumers have confidence in the products they buy and use. That includes ASTM D 1998, a set of standards for cross-linkable polyethylene (XLPE) and non-cross linkable polyethylene (HDPE) polyethylene vertical tanks over 500 gallons.

ASTM D 1998 defines minimum wall thicknesses for these tanks based on several criteria like height, outside diameter, and specific gravity rating. To comply with the standards, the tanks must go through a series of tests that check:

• Wall thickness test
• Impact Test
• Structural integrity test

Additionally, there is a test for cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) tanks to measure the chemical makeup of the tank materials.

EPA 49 CFR

Gemini Dual Containment® Tanks

Peabody’s Gemini Dual Containment® Tanks meet or exceed secondary containment requirements under the EPA’s 49 CFR Regulations.

The Environmental Protection Agency, OSHA, and the Department of Transportation provide regulatory and enforcement functions for laws promulgated by the U.S. Congress that are designed to protect the environment from contamination and reduce risks to human health and worker safety. They have specific requirements for hazardous chemical safe storage compliance. These regulations are codified in the Code of Federal Regulations: 40 CFR Protection of the Environment, 29 CFR Labor, and 49 CFR Transportation, respectively.

FDA Approved

Our ProChem® Potable Water Tanks are also FDA approved. Though the FDA doesn’t approve equipment used in food processing, they have created a set of requirements that equipment used in food and beverage storage must meet.

When choosing a polyethylene chemical storage tank, there are several key factors to consider; the application, desired capacity, purpose (mixing or storing), double-wall or single-wall, and where it will be located, just to name a few. But there is another consideration in purchasing a tank that might not get the full deliberation it deserves; Its shape.

The different tank shapes are generally rectangle/square, cylindrical and conical, and all offer some pros and cons depending upon your application. Peabody Engineering’s Gemini Dual Containment® tanks are available in both square and cylindrical shapes. 

Below are some general guidelines in selecting the right tank for your application. 

Cylindrical

Cylindrical tanks are the most commonly used tanks in a wide variety of industries including agricultural, water storage, chemical, and water treatment applications.  

Pros

• Cost-effective choice for bulk storage.
• Excellent hoop strength with no stress points.

Cons

• More difficult to install fittings and piping manifolds due to the curved sidewall
• More wasted space in an environment with corners.

Square or Rectangular

Square or rectangular tanks are more popular in some applications than cylindrical tanks but can be used in an array of industries and applications that one may not consider at first glance.

Pros

• Allows for maximum use of space with a compact footprint as compared to cylindrical tanks.
• Flat sides allow for ease in plumbing and piping design.
• Less expensive to ship and transport than cylindrical tanks.

Cons

• Increased sidewall head pressure from the liquid being stored on large flat surfaces.
• Limited size range available.
• Generally more costly than cylindrical tanks.

Cone bottom

Cone bottom tanks are well-suited in applications where 100% drainage of the tank is necessary like the food, cosmetics, or pharmaceutical industries.

Pros

• Easier to drain and clean between batches.
• Reduces sediment collection at the bottom.
• Ideal for mixing applications.

Cons

• Requires a stand and hardware.
• More costly than other tank configurations.
• Reduced volume per cubic foot due to cone configuration.

All three styles of tanks have their advantages, the choice you make all depends upon your specific application, and what your budget for the project will be.
