Patriotism is NOT Dead – Happy Fourth of July 2020

By General

Patriotism is NOT DeadOur office will be closed on Friday July 3rd, 2020. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, July 6, 2020.

We made it. It’s here. Independence Day 2020. 244 years ago today, on July 4th, 1776, a handful of brave men and women, some well-educated, all successful and responsible, who loved their fellow man, who forged out a new nation from the harsh wilderness, braving great peril and even death from the harsh environment, from extreme weather, wild animals, threats of peril from bellicose bands of violent savages and outlaws, pestilence and disease!

They could deal with all those threats and they did so successfully. What they would not tolerate was oppression from a far-away ruling authority named George III, who was the King of England and felt that the citizens of the New World were his subjects and toiled for and at his pleasure.

Happy 4th of July! The leaders of the Colonists had had enough and listed the Grievances they had against the crown that despite their complaints, had failed to be addressed. King George’s rule of the Colonies included occupation by an oppressive and draconian standing military force (The Regulars), who routinely broke into private homes and took whatever they wanted in the name of the crown. The King also ordered that trade be cut off to the Colonies, barred citizens from a fair and speedy trial, imposed unfair taxes without representation and 23 more grievances enumerated in a document that defined America and established it as a free and sovereign nation called the Declaration of Independence, which ushered in the Revolutionary War.

Why Quality Matters

By General

Quality is more than just a word at Peabody Engineering; it is part of our value system. And that value isn’t just driven by how many hours we put into the design, cost, testing, and delivery of a finished product. Quality is what a product does for our customers—from distribution partners to end-users. If the product or service doesn’t perform to customers’ expectations, then nothing else matters.

Peabody’s standards set the bar high in the industrial storage tanks and telecom concealment markets because we deliver on five precise components of quality to ensure customer satisfaction, from prototype to final product.

In-House Operations

Peabody Engineering keeps much of its design and production process in-house, as opposed to outsourcing. This gives us more control over our inputs as well as our ability to deliver the final product sooner and reduce costs. We design and produce our own line of tanks and perform our own tooling and rotational plastic molding internally to ensure quality at every step of the manufacturing process.

Strategic Focus

Quality and experience go hand-in-hand. For more than 60 years, Peabody Engineering has known who we are. With our roots in commercial tanks and concealment products, our focus is intentional, so we can deliver quality, reliable and sustainable solutions to our customers. As storage tank industry experts, we stay ahead of technology and wisely invest in our manufacturing capabilities, with a focus of developing intuitive new products consistently.

Durable Materials

Quality products start with the most durable and long-lasting materials. Peabody uses the industry’s most premium lines of fiberglass reinforced polymers (FRP) and top of the market chemically resistant polyethylenes. From our rugged, corrosion-resistant polyethylene potable water tanks, to our high-density linear polyethylene bulk chemical storage tanks, to our heavy-duty engineered chemical tanks systems that are virtually unaffected by ultra-violet rays and other environmental conditions, all of Peabody’s storage tanks are strong, engineering-level tolerances and highly reliable for your most demanding applications.

Intuitive Tank Designs

Communication is key in Peabody’s design process. The good quality design comes from listening to and understanding the end user’s expectations in order to provide them with the most intuitive product for a seamless installation and user experience.

Certifications

As Industrial Plastic Tank manufacturing leaders, Peabody Engineering works hard to stay ahead of the demands of the industry, including being certified to meet quality and purity standards. We have recently secured an upgraded certification for ANSI/NSF-61 compliance in The United States and Canada through ALS Global/Truesdail Laboratories which makes all of our tanks compliant in most municipalities across the continent.

Peabody Engineering has been designing, building, and delivering quality Commercial/Industrial storage tank solutions for six decades, in all shapes and sizes, and always with an emphasis on quality. Visit our website today to learn more about our industrial storage tanks as well as our other division, which manufactures telecom concealment systems.

What Sets Peabody Engineering Apart?

By General

Success and longevity for any business doesn’t happen by accident. They focus on what matters most: their values, their customers, and how their product or service makes a difference to the industries they serve.

Here are four reasons why Peabody Engineering is a leader in commercial storage tank and concealment solutions:

Experts
With decades as commercial tank specialists, Peabody has a long history of delivering quality, durable, reliable, and sustainable products to the agriculture industry and beyond.

In 1952, Richard “Dick” Peabody started as a one-man small business selling agricultural fertilizer equipment in California, Arizona, Washington, Oregon and Idaho. He quickly earned a reputation as an expert in Anhydrous ammonia and saw his business grow, manufacturing his own line of valves, pumps, compressors, hose lines, nurse wagons, and bulk storage containers for Anhydrous ammonia, solidifying his standing as best in the business.

Family-owned
Now in its second generation of family leadership, Peabody Engineering embodies the knowledge, trust and innovation that are synonymous with family-owned businesses.

Mark and Larry Peabody grew up in their dad’s business, helping build products during their summer vacations. After graduating from college, both sons went to work full time in the family business. Mark and Larry made a great team from the start, proving they had the imagination and innovation to carry on their dad’s vision after he retired in 1982.

What Sets Peabody Engineering Apart? | Plastic Containment Tanks

Forward-thinking
Larry and Mark had the know-how to balance tradition with changing markets. In 1977, before Dick retried, Larry saw a future in plastics and convinced his dad to start promoting a new concept of liquid storage—rotational molded plastic tanks, along with plastic valves, fittings, and pumps. They quickly found success in wholesale distribution of industrial plastic products in both the agricultural and industrial chemical markets.

Resilient
One of the advantages a family-owned business has is the trail of knowledge and history when it comes to economic cycles. They’re also more practical when it comes to debt, focusing on spending less and making sensible investments.

In 1982, the agriculture market downturn caused by the earlier recession greatly affected the sales of Peabody’s fertilizer equipment. In addition, their paint division was shaken. Once again, in 2008, they endured the financial recession. But perseverance and faith saw them through all these challenges and brought them new markets and opportunities. They were able to:

  • Design and produce their own line of tanks to meet higher demands of engineered applications.
  • Invest in tooling for a new product—a dual containment tank that would guard against chemical contamination from a leaking tank.
  • Invest in their own rotational plastic molding machinery and brought their manufacturing in-house.
  • Purchase state-of-the-art plastic molding machines, increasing their ability to mold tanks up to 1500 gallons.
  • Design a new seismic restraint system for tanks using fiberglass fabrication.
  • Established a telecom division fabricating fiberglass panels to conceal cell towers from public view.

Four decades later, Peabody Engineering has not only maintained the solid reputation their dad earned in the ’50s, but continues to strengthen the company’s standing by building an international distribution network for quality manufactured plastic storage tanks, custom cell site concealment systems, and fiberglass structures.

The Importance of NSF 61 Certification

By Tanks

Does your drinking water storage tank meet NSF 61 requirements? Whether for operations in agriculture, vineyards, farm, fire protection, or water treatment, water safety is paramount in the production of potable water containment products. NSF 61 addresses those concerns.

Developed in 1988 by NSF International, an American product testing, inspection, and certification organization, NSF 61 establishes minimum requirements for the control of potential adverse human health effects from products that come in contact with potable drinking water or products that support the production of potable water. For manufacturers of drinking water containment products, NSF 61 is a critical certification to have. And not just for liquid containment manufacturers. NSF 61 includes all components of a drinking water system, including pipes, faucets, gaskets, coatings, meters, filers, and joining and sealing materials.

Getting certified takes some time. Material samples are analyzed for formulation, trace materials, and toxicology. Leaching tests are also performed over time to determine whether any chemicals will seep into the containers. Additionally, the certifying agency performs an audit of the manufacturing facility to confirm that the procedures and materials reflect those listed during the application process.

Since 1952, Peabody Engineering has been designing, producing, and distributing commercial storage tank solutions to customers all over the globe. As commercial/Industrial liquid containment (Tank) manufacturing leaders, we work hard to stay ahead of the demands of the industry, including standards like NSF 61.

We have designed a line of potable water and chemical tanks that are certified drinking water system components for health effects by NSF/ANSI/CAN 61.

Gemini Dual Containment® Tanks for potable water and water treatment chemicals with capacities from 40 gallons to 1300 gallons are manufactured using XLPE, and Gemini® Tanks for potable water and water treatment chemicals from 5 to 1300 gallons are manufactured with LDPE and HDPE. Both are certified by NSF 61. Offered in a variety of tank sizes in both round and square configurations, the Gemini® Tanks, with standard features like the pump mounting platform, overflow dikes, vented lid, and threaded fittings all included offer years of trouble-free and maintenance-free service.

Our ProChem® Potable Water and chemical Tank models with capacities from 5 to 1500 gallons are manufactured with LDPE or HDPE, and models from 40 to 1500 gallons are manufactured with XLPE. All are NSF 61 certified. ProChem® Potable Water and chemical Tanks include an integrally molded pump mounting platform on top and standard process fittings for fill and discharge of water. Supplied with a large vented access opening and easy to read calibration in liters and gallons, the ProChem® Potable Water and chemical Tank line offer standard features not previously available.
