What Glycol Collection Tank Options Does Peabody Offer for Data Centers?
Peabody Engineering offers Gemini Dual Containment® tank systems configured for glycol collection in data center cooling applications. Options include Gemini Square and Cylindrical tanks with integrated secondary containment, process connections, level indication, optional electronic level and leak detection, FiberRing® restraint systems, and configurations designed to meet data center project specifications.
Every trade show gives our team at Peabody Engineering an opportunity to demonstrate products, answer questions, and, perhaps most importantly, listen.
At AWT 2026, several products generated significant interest. But one conversation stood out: glycol collection and storage for data center cooling systems.
As data center cooling infrastructure evolves, system designers and operators are considering not only how cooling fluids are distributed, but also how those fluids are collected, contained, monitored, and managed within the overall system.
That is creating a new application for a familiar Peabody solution: Gemini Dual Containment® tanks.
Why Is Glycol Used in Data Center Cooling Systems?
Data centers generate significant heat, and cooling that infrastructure is critical to maintaining reliable operation. Depending on the cooling system design, glycol and water-glycol mixtures may be used as heat-transfer fluids within the cooling infrastructure.
That creates a practical design consideration beyond the cooling equipment itself: How will glycol be safely collected and contained within the system?
Peabody’s Gemini Dual Containment® tanks can be configured as completely integrated tank and restraint systems for glycol collection applications in data center cooling systems.
Gemini Tanks for Glycol Collection
One of the advantages of the Gemini line is the range of configurations and capacities available for system designers.
Gemini Square Tanks are available in capacities from 5 to 440 gallons, providing compact options where equipment-room space and system footprint are important considerations.
Gemini Cylindrical Tanks are available from 15 to 1,500 gallons, providing additional capacity options for larger collection requirements.
This range allows engineers and system designers to select a tank configuration appropriate for the available space, required capacity, and overall cooling system design.
An Integrated Tank and Restraint System
For data center applications, the tank is only one component of the system.
Peabody’s glycol collection solutions can incorporate features designed to support installation, operation, monitoring, and containment, including:
- Flooded suction dual-wall bottom process connections
- Integral visual level gauge and fill connection
- Optional electronic level and leak detection sensors
- FiberRing restraint system
- Fully customizable configurations
Together, these features allow the tank and its supporting components to be integrated into the larger glycol collection system rather than treated as a standalone storage vessel.
Designed With Data Center Environments in Mind
Data center projects can have requirements that go well beyond tank capacity.
Peabody glycol collection systems are available with plenum and non-plenum rated designs, as well as UL-94 and UL-2043 options, allowing the system to be configured around specific project and installation requirements.
The FiberRing restraint system provides an additional option for securing the tank as part of the completed installation.
Because data center specifications can vary considerably by project, Gemini systems can also be customized to meet specific design requirements.
Secondary Containment for Glycol Collection
Containment is another important consideration when incorporating fluid storage or collection into critical infrastructure.
Gemini tanks use a tank-within-a-tank design to provide integral secondary containment. Standard designs are available with NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 ratings, and Peabody’s glycol collection systems are designed to exceed applicable EPA secondary containment requirements and meet or exceed data center design specifications.
For engineers and facility teams, this provides the ability to incorporate collection, secondary containment, monitoring, and restraint into a single engineered system.
Why Gemini for Data Center Glycol Collection?
The same characteristics that have made Gemini tanks a proven solution for chemical storage and secondary containment translate naturally to glycol collection applications:
- Wide capacity range: Square configurations from 5 to 440 gallons and cylindrical configurations from 15 to 1,500 gallons
- Integrated secondary containment: Dual-wall construction provides primary storage and secondary containment in one system
- Data center configuration options: Plenum, non-plenum, UL-94, and UL-2043 options are available
- Monitoring capabilities: Visual level indication with optional electronic level and leak detection sensors
- Customizable systems: Connections, restraints, monitoring, and other features can be configured around project requirements
What Else Got Attention at AWT 2026?
Glycol collection wasn’t the only topic that generated conversation at this year’s AWT Expo.
95-Gallon Gemini Square Tank
The 95-gallon Gemini Square attracted attention because it provides increased capacity while maintaining a footprint very close to the 70-gallon model. For applications where floor space is limited, that additional capacity can make a meaningful difference without requiring a substantially larger installation area.
Gemini Pump Pup Platform™
The Pump Pup Platform™ also generated interest as a practical way to mount a chemical feed pump directly above the tank. The elevated platform can help simplify pump installation and create a more integrated chemical feed system.
240-, 340- and 440-Gallon Gemini Square Tanks
Our larger Gemini Square configurations generated another very practical conversation: shipping.
The 240-, 340- and 440-gallon models are designed to fit on a standard 48-inch by 48-inch pallet, helping simplify transportation and potentially reduce shipping costs while still providing substantial storage capacity.
Sometimes the Best Product Ideas Start With a Conversation
AWT gives us a chance to show what Peabody is building, but it also gives us the opportunity to hear what engineers, system designers, distributors, and operators need next.
This year, the interest in glycol collection for data center cooling systems was a good example.
As data center infrastructure continues to evolve, Peabody Engineering is applying the flexibility of the Gemini platform to help meet new storage, collection, containment, and system-integration requirements.
